Introduction

AutoInstruct shows you how to change your cabin pollen filter on a Volkswagen MK7 Golf. You can save a few dollars during your service by completing this simple process yourself! A clean cabin filter is essential to maintaining clean air in your vehicle. Consider changing your cabin filter more frequently in dusty environments, or for those who suffer dust allergies or asthma.

Difficulty Rating

Moderate

Tools/Parts Required

  • Flathead Screwdriver
  • Replacement Cabin Air Filter

Step 1

Open the glovebox and empty the contents.

Step 2

On the top edge of the glovebox you will find two rubberised clips on either side. These need to be pushed firmly upwards to allow the glovebox to drop down.

Step 3

The glovebox will now open slightly further as shown.

Step 4

Release the opening mechanism by sliding the clip in the direction shown. Once released the glovebox will open all the way to the floor.

Step 5

Behind the glovebox you will find a fuse bay and the cabin air filter. The air filter door is opened by gently releasing the three clips at the top with a screwdriver.

Step 6

Open the air filter door and remove.

Step 7

Grasp the filter element with your fingers and remove. Replace with a new cabin filter taking note of the ‘Air Direction’ arrow which must point downwards.

Step 8

Simply reverse the process to reinstall the glove box door and you’re done!

    Hello,

Wondering if you know how to replace the air recirculation motor? Mine has gone bad and makes a noise behind the glove box.

have just tried to fit a new cabin filter and your instructions are spot on. However on the Fram filter I’m fitting the airflow arrow points upwards not downwards i.e.

    AIRFLOW ^

Should I turn it upside down as far as the lettering is concerned.

    many thanks
