Introduction
The OEM Turbo Muffler found in your MK7 Golf GTI, MK7 Golf R, 6C Polo GTI, Audi S3 causes distortion in the airflow exiting your turbo. This hampers performance and reduces compressor noise. By replacing the OEM part with a straight-through piece, such as that offered by Burger Motorsports, we can harness that extra power and create more awesome noise.

Step 1
Remove the air intake pipe. There are two pipe clamps located at either end, depending on your model it may be a spring-based clamp or screw clamp.
Step 2
Locate the turbo muffler – It sits on the back of the engine on the turbo outlet. Loosen both hose clamps and slide the clamps onto the plastic bend to keep them aside. Remove the rubber hose, some force will be required.
Step 3
Next, remove the turbo muffler. It is held in place with three torx screws, it is somewhat difficult to access the bottom screw. After the screws have been removed, simply remove the muffler.

Step 4
As indicated by the arrows, ensure the thin rubber seal remains in place when installing the new muffler. It is normal to see oil in the housing.

Step 5
Simply install your new turbo muffler and reinstall the rubber hose. Ensure to tighten the hose clamps in the correct position. Done!
The whole process takes no longer than 20-30 minutes.
How Does It Work?
The stock Turbo Muffler (Right) has baffles designed to scramble the air and distort the flow, as simulated by the Green arrows. The aftermarket Turbo Muffler (Left) allows for a direct flow of compressed air exiting the turbo.
