Audi

Most vehicles >1950s use the 1100 / 1109 adapter.  These caps are female threaded caps and have an inner diameter at the threads of 45mm. Most other European cars also use this cap with some exceptions. Please check before purchasing.

BMW

Most vehicles >1950s use the 1100 / 1109 adapter.  These caps are female threaded caps and have an inner diameter at the threads of 45mm. Most other European cars also use this cap with some exceptions. Please check before purchasing.

Chevrolet (GM) 

Prior to ~1999 most GM products used a rectangular or oval shaped cap on a wide mouthed reservoir.  From the early 70s to mid 80s the reservoir was metal, after that time period it was plastic. These are likely to use the 1105 adapter.

After ~1999 uses a round twist to lock cap.  The cap twists 1/4 turn and has 3 locking tabs on the underside: Adapter 1108 / 1118

After ~2016 some vehicles such as the new Camaro, use a female threaded cap that screws on 1.5 to 2 full turns and is 45mm I.D: 1100 / 1109 adapter.

Chrysler

1990s to 2000s use either 1107/1117 or 1108/1118 adapters:

The 1107/1117 is a twist to lock 1/6 turn cap.  It has 3 locking tabs on the underside of the cap that engage tabs on the reservoir neck. It has an ID of about 2.0″
The 1108/1118 is also a twist to lock 1/6 turn cap.  It has 3 locking tabs on the underside of the cap that engage tabs on the reservoir neck. It has an ID of about 1.9″

2000s onwards use a round brake fluid cap that twists 1/3 of a turn. This uses the 1103 / 1113 adapters.

Classic American Cars 

Male threaded cap 1 1/4″ size: 1102 adapter
Male threaded cap 1 5/8″ size: 1122 adapter

Classic British Cars

1″ I.D and is a female threaded cap: 1110 adapter

Motive do not make any 3″ diameter caps for British cars.

Dodge

1990s to 2000s use either 1107/1117 or 1108/1118 adapters:

The 1107/1117 is a twist to lock 1/6 turn cap.  It has 3 locking tabs on the underside of the cap that engage tabs on the reservoir neck. It has an ID of about 2.0″
The 1108/1118 is also a twist to lock 1/6 turn cap.  It has 3 locking tabs on the underside of the cap that engage tabs on the reservoir neck. It has an ID of about 1.9″

2000s onwards use a round brake fluid cap that twists 1/3 of a turn. This uses the 1103 / 1113 adapters.

Ferrari

Most vehicles >1950s use the 1100 / 1109 adapter.  These caps are female threaded caps and have an inner diameter at the threads of 45mm. Most other European cars also use this cap with some exceptions.
Some models and years will use a slightly smaller cap that is 42mm inner diameter, this will require the 1101/1119 universal adapter

Ford

Before 1985: Typically uses the 1115 adapter.

1985 – 2005: 1107 / 1117 adapter. This is a 1/6 turn twist to lock cap with three locking tabs.
Very rarely some Ford products use a round cap with only two locking tabs. This uses the 1106 adapter.

2005 Onwards – Visual check is required, it may be any of the following adapters:

1100/1109 – Female threaded cap, 45mm I.D.  It screws on 1.5-2 full turns onto the reservoir. Includes 2015+ Mustang and 2018+ F150s.
1107/1117 is a twist to lock 1/6 turn cap.  It has 3 locking tabs on the underside of the cap that engage tabs on the reservoir neck.  It has an ID of about 2.0″
1118 (NOT 1108) is a twist to lock 1/6 turn cap.  It has 3 locking tabs on the underside of the cap that engage tabs on the reservoir neck.   It has an ID of about 1.9″. Includes 2005-2015 Mustang.

Small Ford cars built on a European chassis such as the Focus and the Fiesta will use the 1100/1109 – Female threaded cap, 45mm I.D.

Hyundai

After 1990s – Generally Ford 1107 / 1117 adapter.  This cap is a twist to lock cap, it will twist about 1/6 turn and the underside of the cap has three locking tabs that engage cutouts on the reservoir neck.
Alternatives: Round, threaded cap with 45mm I.D – European 1100/1109
None of the above? You will need to use the 1101 or 1119 Universal Adapter – Please ensure there is sufficient space around the reservoir to attach the adapter. It will not fit under cowling.

Holden (GM)

Prior to ~1999 most GM products used a rectangular or oval shaped cap on a wide mouthed reservoir.  From the early 70s to mid 80s the reservoir was metal, after that time period it was plastic. These are likely to use the 1105 adapter.

After ~1999 uses a round twist to lock cap.  The cap twists 1/4 turn and has 3 locking tabs on the underside: Adapter 1108 / 1118

Australian made cars such as the Commodore/G8/SS: Adapter 1107/1117. The GTO has seen the 1117 (I.D 2″), 1118 (I.D 1.98″) and a select few that use the 1105 adapter.

After ~2016 some vehicles such as the new Camaro, use a female threaded cap that screws on 1.5 to 2 full turns and is 45mm I.D: 1100 / 1109 adapter.

Honda

Two Sizes:
Reservoir A:  Approximately 2.5″ in diameter –  1101 Universal Adapter
Reservoir B: Approximately 3″ in diameter – 1119 Universal Adapter

Please ensure there is sufficient space around the reservoir to attach the adapter. It will not fit under cowling.

Infinity

After 1990s – Generally Ford 1107 / 1117 adapter.  This cap is a twist to lock cap, it will twist about 1/6 turn and the underside of the cap has three locking tabs that engage cutouts on the reservoir neck.
Alternatives: Round, threaded cap with 45mm I.D – European 1100/1109
None of the above? You will need to use the 1101 or 1119 Universal Adapter – Please ensure there is sufficient space around the reservoir to attach the adapter. It will not fit under cowling.

Jeep

Due to all the acquisitions of Jeep over the years by Mercedes, Chrysler, Fiat there are a variety of adapters are used on Jeeps.

Prior to 1985: 1105 or 1115 adapter depending on the size of the reservoir. Please check.

2000 onwards Jeep vehicles typically use the 0113/1113 adapters. If the cap uses a female thread with an I.D of 45mm, these are the 1100/1109 adapters. Please check before purchasing.

KIA

After 1990s – Generally Ford 1107 / 1117 adapter.  This cap is a twist to lock cap, it will twist about 1/6 turn and the underside of the cap has three locking tabs that engage cutouts on the reservoir neck.
Alternatives: Round, threaded cap with 45mm I.D – European 1100/1109
None of the above? You will need to use the 1101 or 1119 Universal Adapter – Please ensure there is sufficient space around the reservoir to attach the adapter. It will not fit under cowling.

Lexus

The majority of Lexus models use a reservoir cap that is a push to seal cap.  It doesn’t screw on or twist to lock.  Some Lexus use a cap that has two locking tabs that engage inside the reservoir neck. Both of these types of caps will need to use the Universal 1101/1119 adapter.

Note – if the reservoir is under the cowl the 1101 or 1119 will not work.  Also some Lexus use an integrated master cylinder abs unit where the ABS unit is either directly below the master cylinder or attached to the side. Motive do not have a kit that works with those vehicles.

Mazda

Mazda uses many different brake reservoirs. We have seen the 1100, 1109, 1107, and the 1118 work on different Mazdas.

Most twist to lock caps will be the 1118 however some cars can use the 1107.  It would be best to compare measurements found on the page.

If the cap ID measures as per the pictures 1.8″ then it is the 1118 cap.  If it measures 2.0″ then it is the 1107. Clutch reservoirs on Mazdas if separate from the brake reservoir will also use the 1100/1109 adapters.

1st and 2nd Generation MX-5/Miata: 1111 adapter
3rd Generation MX-5/Miata: 1100/1109 adapter

Mercedes-Benz

Most vehicles >1950s use the 1100 / 1109 adapter.  These caps are female threaded caps and have an inner diameter at the threads of 45mm. Most other European cars also use this cap with some exceptions. Please check before purchasing.

Mitsubishi

After 1990s – Generally Ford 1107 / 1117 adapter.  This cap is a twist to lock cap, it will twist about 1/6 turn and the underside of the cap has three locking tabs that engage cutouts on the reservoir neck.
Alternatives: Round, threaded cap with 45mm I.D – European 1100/1109
None of the above? You will need to use the 1101 or 1119 Universal Adapter – Please ensure there is sufficient space around the reservoir to attach the adapter. It will not fit under cowling.

Nissan

After 1990s – Generally Ford 1107 / 1117 adapter.  This cap is a twist to lock cap, it will twist about 1/6 turn and the underside of the cap has three locking tabs that engage cutouts on the reservoir neck.
Alternatives: Round, threaded cap with 45mm I.D – European 1100/1109
None of the above? You will need to use the 1101 or 1119 Universal Adapter – Please ensure there is sufficient space around the reservoir to attach the adapter. It will not fit under cowling.

Porsche

Most vehicles >1950s use the 1100 / 1109 adapter.  These caps are female threaded caps and have an inner diameter at the threads of 45mm. Most other European cars also use this cap with some exceptions. Please check before purchasing.

Saab

Skoda

Subaru

After 1990s – Generally Ford 1107 / 1117 adapter.  This cap is a twist to lock cap, it will twist about 1/6 turn and the underside of the cap has three locking tabs that engage cutouts on the reservoir neck.
Alternatives: Round, threaded cap with 45mm I.D – European 1100/1109
None of the above? You will need to use the 1101 or 1119 Universal Adapter – Please ensure there is sufficient space around the reservoir to attach the adapter. It will not fit under cowling

Tesla

All models use the 1118 adapter.  The 1108 adapter will not work.

Toyota

The majority of Toyota models use a reservoir cap that is a push to seal cap.  It doesn’t screw on or twist to lock.  Some Toyota models use a cap that has two locking tabs that engage inside the reservoir neck. Both of these types of caps will need to use the Universal 1101/1119 adapter.

Note – if the reservoir is under the cowl the 1101 or 1119 will not work.  Also some vehicles use an integrated master cylinder abs unit where the ABS unit is either directly below the master cylinder or attached to the side. Motive do not have a kit that works with those vehicles.

The Scion FRS / Toyota 86 use the 1107 Cap as it is built on a Subaru chassis.

Trailers

Male threaded cap 1 1/4″ size: 1102 adapter
Male threaded cap 1 5/8″ size: 1122 adapter

Volkswagen

Volkswagen – Air Cooled

VW Bus 1950-1967  will use kit 0100 – 45mm threaded cap 1100 adapter
VW Beetle after 1963, bus after 1967  will use 0104 kit – 27mm  inner diameter threaded reservoir cap — 1104 adapter

If it uses a push on cap it will be the 0101 kit.

Volvo
