Introduction

This guide will show you how to remove the engine air filter on a VE Commodore. You’ll need this guide when installing an aftermarket air filter on your vehicle, such as an Over The Radiator (OTR) or Pod Filter setup. Suits both V6 and V8 models.

  • Socket Set

Step 1

Push on the metal clips surrounding the air box to release the lid.

Step 2

Lift up the airbox lid. This will reveal the air filter element. Remove the filter element.

Step 3

Unclip the MAF (Mass Air Flow) meter by sliding out the red clip. Then unbolt the hose clamp attaching the air filter lid to the air intake pipe.

Step 4

  • Unclip the positive terminal cover (Green Arrow) which allows for easier removal of the lower section of the air intake.
  • Unbolt the two retaining nuts (Yellow) holding the air intake in place
  • The Red circle is simply a rubber grommet. A firm upwards pull on the intake will loosen the grommet.
  • The air intake can now be removed. Swing the intake upwards, allowing the snorkel to come away from the underside of the headlight.

Step 5

The air intake assembly is now removed from the vehicle.
