This guide will show you how to remove the engine air filter on a VE Commodore. You’ll need this guide when installing an aftermarket air filter on your vehicle, such as an Over The Radiator (OTR) or Pod Filter setup. Suits both V6 and V8 models.
Tools / Parts Required
- Socket Set
Unclip the MAF (Mass Air Flow) meter by sliding out the red clip. Then unbolt the hose clamp attaching the air filter lid to the air intake pipe.
- Unclip the positive terminal cover (Green Arrow) which allows for easier removal of the lower section of the air intake.
- Unbolt the two retaining nuts (Yellow) holding the air intake in place
- The Red circle is simply a rubber grommet. A firm upwards pull on the intake will loosen the grommet.
- The air intake can now be removed. Swing the intake upwards, allowing the snorkel to come away from the underside of the headlight.
