Introduction

How to replace the cabin filter on a GD/GG Subaru Impreza (2000 – 2007). This process only takes 10 minutes.

Tools/Parts Required

  • Phillips Screwdriver
  • Replacement Cabin Filter

Step 1

Open the glovebox and empty the contents. Unscrew the five screw located within the glovebox as pictured.

Step 2

Unscrew and remove the clip located on the side of the glovebox.

Step 3

Unscrew the two screws underneath the glove box as pictured.

Step 4

Gently pull on the glovebox to release the clip, and lower it to the floor. Be careful not to strain the wiring to the glovebox light.

Step 5

Locate the air filter cover and release the two clips.

Step 6

Once the cover has been removed, grasp the air filter and remove it.

Step 7

Here is the OEM filter removed from the vehicle. We don’t think it has ever been changed – How disgusting!

Step 8

Install the new filter taking note of the air flow direction arrow. This should be pointing downwards.

Re-assemble the glovebox as per the removal steps.
